Bloomsburg Falls to Shippensburg in Women's Basketball

SHIPPENSBURG--Despite getting three players in double figures, the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team lost to Shippensburg on Tuesday by a score of 87-61.

Shippensburg (5-4) started quickly in the game opening a 21-9 lead in the first eight minutes of play. After seeing the lead stretch to 36-17, the Huskies (4-5) used a 9-0 run to get back to within 10 points, 36-26 with 2:32 to play in the half. Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) led the rally with four points.

Trailing by a 44-31 score at the break, the Huskies saw Shippensburg put the game out of reach by scoring the first six points of the second half to take a 50-31 lead. Bloomsburg did trim the deficit to 14 points with 10 minutes to play, but another 7-0 run pushed the lead to 20 points for the Lady Raiders.

Kegerreis and Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) scored 14 points each for the Huskies, while Nicole Boone (Mountaintop/Crestwood) chipped in with 11 points. Lauren Beckley scored a game-high 25 points for Shippensburg, while Shanna Oaddams added 24 points.

Bloomsburg plays at Lock Haven on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
